Here at the Cafe, we like to look to the cookie. Of late, we've been looking to one of my favourite childhood cookies. A couple of weeks ago, I was inexplicably drawn to purchasing a bag of butterscotch chips and two minutes of googling when I got home brought me to this long-loved recipe for Butterscotch Oaties. I fear I might have looked to this cookie a bit too much in recent days.
Speaking of looking to the cookie, I also recommend looking at this lovely cookie site: Gourmet Magazine's Favorite Cookies, 1941-2008. It's a fascinating survey of cookie cookery over the past 60 or so years and some of them are stunning (such as the ones at the top of this post). If you're feeling particularly Seinfeldian, you can also make your own mini black and white cookies.
