A few months ago, a friend noted "you're not taking pictures anymore" and then asked "what's wrong?" Since January 1st, I've been working on another daily project that's taking up the little energy I seem to have at the end of the work day. Somehow, mentally, the space isn't there to work on photos, this project and also keep my job. I remember doing
Today Photo with Alec and loved doing it: but I also remember how much time it took every day. Even though it felt great to make myself spend the time doing something I loved, it was difficult to summon the time needed to do that project well. It also meant, I wasn't working on other things. Since January 1, I have been using the scraps of time I have on another project.
Still, I have missed taking photos very much. When Sue mentioned
her new project, I was keen to sign on. I signed up for the every other week photo project. Every other week, there's a theme for a photo and that seemed like a good and welcome prompt for me. The first theme is Dining Out and, rather than leaving it at a single shot every other week, I thought I'd play around with the theme for those 2 weeks and post some of the photos on this blog. The
impulse behind TodayPhoto is still strong: it's just taking different paths lately. It feels good to dust off things at the Cafe and get going on another project. Welcome back. Latte?
* Hmm. Well. These past two weeks have been nuts at work and after running between non-stop meetings and deadlines, I realized on Thursday I finally had a half hour to go for a walk before a meeting. My camera and I flew out the door. I thought this week's theme was yellow so I went for a walk in search of yellow. I just realized the theme was not "yellow" but "take a hike" Sigh. So, my variation on the theme is "taking the kind of hike you can when you have half an hour and are searching for yellow things while wearing pointy patent flat shoes that really aren't made for walking let alone hiking." Sigh. That's the kind of week it's been.
